This position reports to the Director of Quality. Currently the position is responsible for data abstracting of medical records that informs and supports decision-making and/or regulatory reporting for the Primary Stroke Program (AHA/ASA Get-with-the Guidelines Comprehensive and Core), Palliative Care Program and GWTG Resuscitation. The GWTG Resusciation program requires the individual to pass its GWTG Resus Certification prior to being allowed access to enter data into its Performance Management Tool (PMT). Attention to detail and proficiency in EXCEL and good analytic skills are required. Accuracy of data abstraction according to CMS/GWTG Specifications Manual and Palliative data (CAPC) is critical as this data drives internal decision making and some of these data are publically reported and/or sent to Regulatory Agencies. This position may include assisting to develop reports and powerpoints for various meetings.
Job Requirements: A minimum of 3 years in Health Care is required and previous experience in hospital quality, chart review and data abstraction for Core Measures/Clinical Registries is STRONGLY preferred. Must be self-directed and detail oriented and willing to take the time to learn new guidance /specs manual to assure accurate and appropriate data abstraction and reporting. Ability to organize work efficiently and independently. Must have good communication skills and ability to develop effective work relationships, have strong \”customer focus’ and share common values of Holy Cross Hospital and Trinity Health.
Proficiency in EXCEL, WORD, PowerPoint is required, as many internal data bases and dashboards must be maintained to support program and process improvement efforts.
Minimum: Bachelors in business, healthcare, nursing or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. RN, BSN preferred but not required. 3+ years in health care (acute) and past experience with clinical record review and data abstraction.
