Job Summary Infection Preventionist
This full time position is in addition to the current Infection Prevention Coordinator on staff. This person will also be responsible for the effective direction, management and operation of the infection prevention and control/epidemiology department, including education of hospital personnel and consultation within the organization, and the county and state health departments.

The responsibilities encompass compliance with Joint Commission (JC) standards, CMS, OSHA, and state regulations, outbreak investigation, and overall direction of the infection prevention and control program.
The Infection Preventionist will support a culture of continuous performance improvement and participate in the implementation of evidence-based practices designed to ensure safety, prevent infections and support the attainment of outstanding clinical outcomes.
Participates in the development and execution of quality initiatives related to infection prevention and control, outbreaks for patients and staff and ongoing reporting (internal and external).
The IP supports medical staff, hospital administration, hospital departments, and committees in executing plans for improvement. Conducts surveillance to prevent and reduce infection rates throughout the organization. Participates with the Lead Infection Preventionist in IC policy review and development and annual assessment and priority setting for infection based priorities. Conducts reporting of communicable diseases and public reporting of infections as required by state law and regulatory guidelines. Reports to the Director of Quality. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of Holy Cross Hospital/Trinity Health.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Requires a current BSN, FL RN license, OR Masters in Public Health (MPH), OR a bachelor’s degree in microbiology or epidemiology. Must have a minimum of three years clinical experience in a hospital setting or disease surveillance experience in a public health setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred. Computer skills, Excel competency is preferred. Will need to attain within three years of hire.
