Nurse Residency Program

Follow your calling…one step at a time.
Come to Holy Cross Hospital and learn to apply the knowledge you obtained in school. Our one-year Nurse Residency Program was designed to effectively support new graduate nurses as they transition into their first professional role. Developed in 2002 by the University HealthSystem Consortium, in collaboration with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, the program has been implemented at over 50 sites throughout the United States.

Designed to offer a well-rounded experience while easing the graduate nurse's transition into the practice environment, the Nurse Residency Program helps the new nurse develop comfort in the role of an RN, apply theoretical concepts at the bedside, strengthen their commitment to nursing as a career choice and improve critical thinking skills. Offered twice a year, the Nurse Residency Program consists of 4-hour monthly seminars, which contain educational content, along with small group discussions of professional experiences and case studies. Our next Nurse Residency Program begins August 2012, with applications being accepted in April.

Join us here to accelerate your confidence by strengthening your abilities to organize, prioritize and lead. In order to qualify, you must be a BSN graduate with no previous acute care work experience with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Eligible candidates must also commit to working at Holy Cross Hospital for two years (one year after program completion). Join us to maximize your skills as you transition into a rewarding Nursing career at Holy Cross Hospital.
